SmartChat Assistant Is Now QuickBlox AI Agent: What’s Changed

If you built with QuickBlox’s SmartChat Assistant, you’ll notice a new name: SmartChat Assistant is now QuickBlox AI Agent.

The change reflects how substantially the product has evolved. What began as a way to add AI-generated responses to chat has developed into a broader platform for creating AI-powered conversations and workflows grounded in your organization’s own information.

Why We Changed the Name

SmartChat Assistant was originally designed as a conversational assistant—a way to add AI-powered replies to a chat application. As its capabilities expanded, that name no longer captured the full role the product could perform.

An assistant primarily responds to individual requests. An AI agent can also use business knowledge, guide a user through a defined process, collect information and determine what should happen next. The new name reflects that wider scope: it is no longer simply an AI feature added to chat, but a platform for building and deploying purposeful AI agents.

What Has Changed

The expanded platform introduces two important capabilities: knowledge-base training, which grounds the agent’s answers in your organization’s content rather than relying only on generic responses, and a visual workflow builder, which lets you control how conversations progress step by step.

Together, these capabilities allow AI Agent to do more than generate replies. It can answer using the information you provide while following a defined process based on the user’s responses and needs.

What This Means for Existing Users

If you already use SmartChat Assistant, the product will now be referred to as QuickBlox AI Agent. Your existing assistant provides the foundation for the expanded platform, with additional capabilities available when you are ready to develop more structured, knowledge-based workflows.

No migration or configuration changes are required as part of the name change.
