Introduction

Building chatbots doesn’t have to be scary—or require a PhD in AI.
With QuickBlox, you’ve got everything you need to create and deploy your own AI agents in minutes—no complex setup or coding required.

In this guide, we’ll walk through how to build your first AI agent, give it some personality, and connect it to real users. Whether you’re looking to automate support, guide users through onboarding, or make your app a little smarter, QuickBlox makes it simple.

Why You Need an AI Agent

Let’s be honest—people expect fast answers these days. Nobody wants to wait around for a support reply or dig through endless help pages. That’s where an AI agent can help. A good AI intelligent agent can understand intent, pull the right information, and respond instantly—like having an extra teammate who never clocks out.

There are a few types of agents in AI, and each plays a different role. Some are knowledge-based agents in AI, relying on your own documents or FAQs. Others act as AI virtual agents, chatting naturally with users and guiding them through tasks. Then there are conversational AI agents, combining both reasoning and human-like dialogue to handle more complex interactions.

In short, an AI agent isn’t just a chatbot—it’s an always-on problem solver that makes your product or service faster, smarter, and more human.

QuickBlox AI Agents

So how does QuickBlox fit in? We’ve built a no-code dashboard that makes creating and managing AI agents surprisingly easy. You can log in, set up your agent, upload your content, and customize its tone—all without needing a developer.

Once you’re happy with it, QuickBlox takes care of the rest: hosting, AI integration, and connection to your communication tools. Whether you use it in a chat app, website, or customer portal, your AI agent runs smoothly within the same secure platform.

QuickBlox’s approach gives you full control over branding, data, and behavior—so your AI agent fits perfectly into your product and your user experience.

Core Features of QuickBlox AI Agents

Alright, before you dive in, here’s a quick peek at what your bot can do. Think of it as a rough map so you know what you’re dealing with. These features make QuickBlox more than just a chatbot—it’s a conversational AI agent platform that supports knowledge-based agents in AI, enabling dynamic, context-aware interactions.

Knowledge Base Integration

This is basically the bot’s brain 🧠. You can upload:

  • PDFs, DOCs, or spreadsheets with info
  • Links to pages on your website
  • Lists of FAQs

Your AI agent will parse this stuff and use it to answer questions.

Customization Options

Your AI agent doesn’t have to be bland. QuickBlox lets you:

  • Pick your own avatar
  • Brand the bot with colors and logos
  • Tweak the tone of replies (friendly, professional, sarcastic…etc)

Automated Responses & Context Awareness

The magic sauce here is the AI. QuickBlox AI agent can:

  • Understand the context of a user’s question
  • Give responses based on multiple documents or sources
  • Handle follow-up questions without needing a human every time

Analytics & Metrics

You want to know if your AI agent is actually useful, right? QuickBlox give basic metrics like number of questions, most asked topics, popular responses.

  • Track what users struggle with—these are opportunities to improve your chatbot
  • Advanced metrics? Pull via API if you like playing with data

Human Handover

When a question is tricky, sensitive, or just too weird, your AI agent can seamlessly transfer the chat to a real person. Users get fast help, your team isn’t overwhelmed, and your AI agent looks smart.

Automated Intake Forms

Collect structured information while the user chats—no manual copy-paste needed. Perfect for:

  • Customer intake
  • Surveys
  • Pre-consultation forms

Forms integrate directly into your AI Agent. Users submit info while chatting, you get clean, structured data, and everyone’s life gets easier.

Getting Started

Ready to go from zero to “my chatbot actually talks” without your brain melting? Let’s break it down step by step. 🚀

Step 1: Sign Up and Register Your App

Before your AI agent can do anything, you need a QuickBlox account.

  1. Sign up here.
  2. Register your app (don’t worry, it’s straightforward—official docs are your friend).
  3. Once your app is live, head over to the AI agent tab in the left-hand menu – currently labeled “SmartChat Assistant.”

Step 2: Create Your AI Agent

Time to make your bot actually exist.

  1. Click Create.
  2. You’ll be redirected to the AI Agent admin panel.
  3. Fill in:
  4. Name – what your users see (e.g., Henry, SupportBot3000).
Username – internal reference for your team (e.g., support_bot).

Step 3: Personalize Your AI Agent

Once your AI Agent has a name and username, it’s time to give it some personality:

1. Upload an Avatar

  • This is the picture that appears next to messages.
  • Click “Upload” and pick an image from your desktop.
  • Once uploaded, it will appear as a static image in the admin panel.

2. Set Chat Behavior via System Messages

  • Scroll down to “System Messages” and click “Show”
  • This is where you give your AI Agent instructions, personality, and tone—so it can answer like a friendly assistant, a professional consultant, or whatever vibe fits your brand.

3. Enable in Chat Groups (optional)

  • This option is only relevant if you’re using AI Agents alongside QuickBlox’s other chat platform services.
  • Choose whether your AI Agent should work in Private or Group dialogs (or both).
  • If you enable it in group chats, you can specify a command to activate the agent, e.g., typing /helpagent in the chat will trigger it to respond.

Step 4: Add Your Knowledge Base

Before your AI agent can start spitting out answers like a pro, it needs brains. With QuickBlox, you’ve got two options:

  1. Use OpenAI – Let the AI Agent tap into OpenAI’s massive language model for general answers and smarter responses. Great if you want wide coverage without manually uploading docs.
  2. Create Your Own Knowledge Base – Perfect if you want your AI Agent to know your products, policies, or internal documentation inside-out. This is where you add websites, webpages, or files so your AI Agent can reference your actual content.

Here’s how to build your own knowledge base:

1. Navigate to “My Content”

  • Scroll down in the admin panel to the “My Content” section.
  • The blue box at the top shows how many items you’ve added and how many more you can add—handy so you don’t go overboard.

2. Choose Your Content Format

QuickBlox supports three ways to feed your AI Agent if you’re creating your own knowledge base:

Format 1 – Websites
  • Scrape your whole website (best if you have a sitemap).
  • Enter your domain URL and click “Add”.
  • The system scans your site and lists all found URLs.
  • Pick All pages or select specific ones manually.
  • Enable Auto Sync to keep your AI Agent up-to-date automatically whenever your website changes.
Format 2 – Webpages
  • Add single web pages by entering individual URLs.
  • Ideal for FAQs, product pages, or blog posts.
Format 3 – Files
  • Upload documents like PDFs, Word Docs, or TXT files.
  • Click “Browse”, pick the file from your desktop, and hit “Save“.
  • It will show “Processing” while uploading and switch to “Complete” when ready.

3. Manage Your Content

  • Your uploaded content appears in a list under “My Content”.
  • You can see whether Auto Sync is enabled and the last sync date.
  • On the right-hand side, three buttons let you:
    • Enable or disable Auto Sync
    • Remove the URL or file
    • Quickly check sync status

4. Removing Content

  • Want to start fresh? There’s a link to remove all content from your current assistant—useful when testing or rebranding your AI agent.

5. Save Everything

  • Click Save at the bottom of the admin panel to lock in your changes and update the bot.

Step 5: Handle Questions Your AI Agent Can’t Answer

Even the best AI Agent hit a wall. QuickBlox offers three fallback options:

  1. Default Answer – the bot sends a pre-set message like, “Sorry, I don’t know the answer.” You can customize this to match your brand voice.
  2. Forward to OpenAI – if your docs don’t have the answer, route the question to OpenAI for a wider data set.
  3. Send Webhook – forward the chat to another system, like Q-Consultation, an inbox, or a live agent. All you need to do is provide the Webhook URL in the designated field.

Step 6: Make Your AI Agent Go Live!

All done? Almost!

  1. Review all fields.
  2. Hit “Create” at the bottom of the page.
  3. Boom—your AI agent is live and ready to chat! 🎉

Step 7: Test Your AI Agent

Use the sandbox on the right-hand side of your admin panel to test out your AI agent. Try all kinds of questions—typos, curveballs, weird edge cases—and see how your agent handles them.

  • Check knowledge base responses, OpenAI prompts, and fallback behavior.
  • Tweak system messages, content, or settings as needed.
  • Once it’s behaving reliably, your AI Agent is ready to be deployed 🚀

Step 8: Integrate Your AI Agent Into Your App or Website

Alright, your AI Agent is alive in QuickBlox and actually talking. But now let’s get it where your users hang out.

Option 1: The QuickBlox Widget (Easy Mode)

If you just want your Ai agent on a website without hacking together an app, use the QuickBlox widget as your shortcut. Why it’s awesome:

  • Lightweight, drops into any page
  • You can tweak avatar, colors, and greetings so it doesn’t look boring
  • Works straight away with your knowledge base—no magic spells needed

Basically…..,

  • Go to the Widget tab on the dashboard
  • Pick your avatar, colors, greetings…whatever
  • Copy the code snippet they give you
  • Paste it into your website HTML (footer is usually safe)

……and your AI agent is live on your site. No heavy setup.

Option 2: Hook It Up With SDKs (For Apps)

Got a mobile app? QuickBlox has SDKs for iOS, Android, and Web. Benefits:

  • Control how your AI agent looks and behaves
  • Mash it up with other features in your app, e.g. add it to your group chats to use it to provide information or summarize discussions
  • Pull analytics and manage the bot right from your app

Basically, if you don’t want a generic iframe-looking chatbot and want it to feel like part of your product, this is your route.

Frequently Asked Questions

What key features make AI agents effective tools for enhancing customer support?

AI agents can chat naturally, understand context, and pull info from multiple sources to answer questions fast. They handle repetitive requests, work 24/7, and free up human agents to focus on the tricky stuff.

What distinguishes an AI virtual agent from traditional chatbots?

An AI virtual agent goes beyond scripted replies. It understands intent, remembers context, and can personalize responses — while traditional chatbots just follow preset rules or keyword triggers.

How do conversational AI agents manage complex customer interactions compared to traditional chatbots?

Conversational AI agents can follow multi-turn conversations, clarify confusion, and adjust their tone. They “get” what users mean, not just what they type, making conversations feel smoother and more human.

Can AI agents integrate with existing business systems to deliver personalized customer experiences?

Yes — AI agents can connect to CRMs, booking tools, or internal databases. This lets them pull real customer info and give personalized answers or recommendations on the spot.

How do knowledge-based agents in AI improve the accuracy of customer support?

They rely on your own verified data — FAQs, policies, and documents — instead of guessing. That means users get consistent, accurate answers straight from your trusted content.
