Volker Hirsch from RIM (BlackBerry), Patrick Bergle from Chirp and JJ Vakrat from ‘I Judge’ have been speaking at our Universal Mobile Apps meetup last Wednesday. Pretty exciting list of speakers and great talks too.
Volker Hirsch, Research In Motion (formerly Chief Strategy Officer in Scoreloop, now part of RIM) is a head of Games in RIM and has shared some interesting insights regarding myths and reality of BlackBerry and gaming. I really enjoyed Volker’s talk and tried to catch every word – Heron Tower turned out to be quite loud and not the best venue for this kind of meet ups – sorry guys – next time we’ll organise something more appropriate.
Patrick Bergle has talked about (surprise – surprise!) Chirp. Interestingly, when he pulled out his smartphone to demo the app, half audience stretched out their hands with Chirp running, trying to catch what was that Patrick was ‘chirping’.
JJ Vakrat has talked about fightnomics and their social fights judging platform ‘I Judge’. ‘I Judge’ is one of the Spingboard startups and we’ll be interested to watch their development.
Here is the official meetup page for the event: http://www.meetup.com/Universal-Mobile-Apps-London/events/78861392/. We wish to thank everybody who was present – it was a really great meetup. Don’t forget to check out our other London meetup for mobile / cloud developers: Mobile backend – Apps and APIs.
